Promoting a Healthy Body and a Healthy Mind

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

As a school we promote the importance of a Healthy Body through our outstanding PE offer but we look equally at the importance of a Healthy mind. We also teach how children keep themselves safe online. These key messages are taught throughout the curriculum and provide opportunities for children to develop themselves holistically beyond the National Curriculum. These key messages are promoted by all staff at all times to help children to develop life long skills for adulthood.

Assemblies focus on key messages whilst making reference and direct links to Personal Development, British Values and Protected Characteristics. Assemblies are taught using JIGSAW, Picture News and also important dates that we learn/ celebrate in school.

Around the school children can see reinforcements of important key messages, these include displays that promote Positive Mental health and Wellbeing, the importance of Diversity and Equality. Books are used to reinforce key messages throughout the curriculum but also around the school.

Please see below links and opportunities to support your child at home.

Yoga

Children take part in yoga sessions following Cosmic Yoga. If you think your child would benefit from yoga at home you can follow the attached link.

It is important that children have a healthy sleep pattern and routine. Please see below the links to resources that CAMHS have provided to support parents/carers. There is also an annual workshop for parents held at school to support a healthy sleep routine with your child. Please speak to Mrs Knowles if you are interested or look out on the weekly newsletter.

Support for Children

As a school, we pride ourselves on supporting children to develop strategies to help at those times when they are finding things overwhelming or particularly difficult.  We acknowledge that in some instances children need some further support and interventions. On some occasions children benefit from a referral to outside agencies. Please see below some advice, information and a referral form if this is something you feel would support your child best.
