We think it is important for children to feel involved in decision making at Hendal Primary. From Year 1 onwards each year group has the opportunity to nominate two representatives to be part of the School Council. The School Council elects a Chairperson, a vice chair, a treasurer and a secretary and meetings are held fortnightly. Each corridor has a suggestion box to enable all children to put their ideas to the Council.

A big Thank you from the School Council to everybody who took part in this year’s 2018 Children in Need day, we raised a staggering £325!!

What is the meaning of it?

Children in Need are defined in law as children who are aged under 18 and need the Local Authority services to achieve or maintain a responsible standard of health or development.

How much have they raised for Children in Need?

In 2017, people from across the UK came together to raise a phenomenal fifty million pound for BBC Children in Need. This year they hope to raise an incredible amount again.

Why the bear is called Pudsey Bear?

They first televised appeal took place in 1955 and was called the Children Hour Christmas Appeal. It was the first time Pudsey Bear appeared on tv. It instantly transformed in to the Children in Need brand.
