Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
ARRANGEMENTS FOR SUPPORTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES
On 1st September 2014, the Children and Families Act 2014 introduced a new framework for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) representing the biggest shift in SEN for 30 years.
Please find a copy of our SEND local offer below;
If you have any concerns about your child’s learning or development please speak to your child’s class teacher or with Mrs Knowles the school Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCO)
You will be invited into school to discuss your child’s needs and achievements. You will be given time to explain and share your knowledge of your child. If necessary the school will make referrals to outside agencies to support your child and ensure they reach their full potential and that their time at Hendal Primary school is happy and memorable.
For children with complex SEND, the frequency of such provision may occasionally result in the school applying for additional funding to support a child, known as Exceptional Needs Funding. The complexity of SEND for these children will be at a severity of that rarely seen in other schools across the country.
